Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is a gentle, evidence-based, body-centered approach designed to support individuals healing from complex or relational trauma. This may include trauma related to chronic stress, neglect, abuse, sexual assault, oppression, or other experiences of interpersonal harm.

Unlike traditional yoga, TCTSY is not about achieving specific poses. Instead, it emphasizes choice, safety, and reconnecting with the body in a way that feels manageable and empowering. Participants are invited to move at their own pace, notice physical sensations without judgment, and build a sense of agency, rhythm, and presence. Over time, this practice can help expand tolerance for both physical and emotional experiences, supporting regulation of the nervous system and overall well-being.

TCTSY is grounded in trauma research, attachment theory, and neuroscience and was developed at the Trauma Center in Brookline, Massachusetts. It is recognized by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as an empirically validated adjunct treatment for complex trauma.

At Inner Peace Therapeutic Services, TCTSY may be offered as a complement to psychotherapy, supporting healing that goes beyond words and honors the body’s role in recovery.
