Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor
Hi, I’m Sydney McGurk (she/her), LGPC. I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up as you are-without judgment, pressure, or the feeling that you need to have everything figured out.
I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults who may be navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, or simply feeling overwhelmed or unsure of their next step. My goal is to create a supportive and trusting relationship where you feel heard, understood, and comfortable exploring the things that matter most to you.
My approach to counseling is grounded in Person-Centered Therapy, which means I see you as the expert on your own life. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I work collaboratively with you and tailor therapy to your individual needs, personality, and goals. I strive to meet each client with empathy, curiosity, and genuine understanding while helping them recognize their strengths and move toward meaningful change.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from St. Mary’s College of Maryland in 2023 and my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2026. My clinical experience includes working in a community mental health setting with children, adolescents, and adults from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences.
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you’re used to handling things on your own. You don’t have to know exactly what to say or where to begin. We can figure that out together. I am currently accepting new clients and accept BCBS, CareFirst, Aetna, Cigna, and Self-Pay clients.
